Closed Comedones

A closed comedone is a type of acne that has no visible opening, making it impossible to squeeze or extract. It appears as a small, slightly raised bump measuring approximately 0.1–3 mm in diameter and is usually the same color as the surrounding skin. This type of acne develops when oil, dead skin cells, and debris become trapped inside the hair follicle and sebaceous gland. Depending on its size, a closed comedone may persist for some time, and many eventually progress into inflamed acne if left untreated.

Common Treatments for Closed Comedones

1. Topical Comedolytic Medications

4. Avoid applying powder or makeup to the treated area for the first 2–3 days.
